Maggie Chung

MD

Radiologist

Dr. Maggie Chung is a radiologist who specializes in breast imaging, with the goal of diagnosing cancer as early as possible. She uses standard mammography, tomosynthesis (3D mammography), ultrasound and MRI to detect and manage breast cancer. Her expertise includes performing image-guided breast biopsies.

In research, Chung uses deep learning (a type of artificial intelligence) to improve breast cancer diagnosis and risk assessment. To improve safety and accessibility, she is also using deep learning to simulate contrast-enhanced breast MRI (in which dye is used to make abnormalities more visible).

Chung earned her medical degree at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. She completed a residency in diagnostic radiology and a fellowship in breast imaging at UCSF.
